LOFT CONVERSIONS IN EDWALTON, WEST BRIDGFORD AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS
Has your family outgrown the dimensions of your current house? Or do you need a dedicated office to accommodate a permanent switch to working from home? There are numerous reasons why your property may feel smaller than when you first moved in. Whatever the specifics of your situation, persisting in cramped conditions can ultimately result in a reduced quality of life. At E.V.A Design & Build Specialists, we perform a full range of loft conversions that provide all the extra living or working space you need.
Operating out of Edwalton, we are the trusted Design & Build contractors for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Some of our key service areas include Beeston, Cotgrave, Derby, Long Eaton, Nottingham, Ruddington, Stapleford and West Bridgford, to name a few.
The Loft Conversions We Carry Out
When converting your loft, you have several design options to choose from:

- Rooflight – We install rooflights into the original roof slope. All conversion work takes place within the existing roofing structure
- Dormer – Our team builds an extension to your roof. This structure rises out of the original slope, creating a room with a flat ceiling and vertical walls
- Mansard – We alter the rear slope of your current roof, building a new structural addition with a distinctive back wall sloping in at 72 degrees
- Hip-to-Gable – Our joinery contractors remove the hipped side(s) of your roof before building a vertical gable that creates a new right-angled structure
Rooflight, dormer and mansard conversions are, in most cases, applicable to properties of every type, be they terraced, semi-detached or detached. As the name suggests, our team can only perform hip-to-gable conversions on a roof with one or more hipped sides to start with.
E.V.A Design & Build Specialists provides end-to-end management for loft conversions in Ilkeston, West Bridgford and the surrounding areas. You can rely on us to draw up an efficient schedule of works covering all the services needed to complete your project. In addition to the joinery, this includes electrical, plumbing and heating work, lighting installations and the plastering.
As time-served joinery contractors, we can create any kind of room you require. An extra bedroom with fitted wardrobes, a home office, an additional bathroom installation – there’s no idea or concept we can’t turn into a reality.

Loft Conversions | Important Pre-Build Information
If you want to convert your loft, you must first check that your current space meets the recommended conversion criteria. In short, this means your loft must have a minimum head height of 2.2m. While this figure isn’t a regulation, it’s the industry standard for a basic conversion.

If your loft has less than 2.2m of headroom, it’s still possible to convert it. However, you will need to invest in large-scale construction work that either raises the roof or lowers the ceilings in the rooms below. Both options create the necessary space, but will significantly increase your budget and timescale.
As a homeowner, you have permitted development rights – and most loft conversions fall within the stated conditions and limitations. If this is true for your proposed work, you won’t need to secure planning permission before our builder and joinery contractors start work at your Ilkeston, West Bridgford or local-area property. If needed, we can provide advice and guidance to help create a compliant design.
